Summary

Recently, there has been an increasing number of demand letters and lawsuits around Website and Document Accessibility. Education, Governments, and small businesses are not immune. We will consider what tools to use, how should I monitor content and how do I provide the necessary quality assurance to be in compliance for PDF accessibility.

Abstract

With recent string of Florida lawsuits around websites and documents, accessibility is top of mind for many education institutions, businesses and municipal governments. Once your website is accessible, making digital documents is essential. Organizations need a sustainable, scalable and cost-effective method for document remediation. What should I consider? • Accessible Style Templates? • Training? • How do I identify content that are public facing that needs to be made accessible? • How do I ensure documents are in Compliance and Quality Checked? Organizations need to consider a plan of action. We will discuss technologies to track your accessible and inaccessible digital assets. We will look into what remediation solutions are available. Desktop remediation? Outsourcing? Or perhaps Auto Tagging? We will also look into Quality Assurance and what your need to know for documents to be in compliance.

Doug Koppenhofer

Doug is based in Denver, Colorado and has been in the digital accessibility field since 2007. Before running Crawford Technologies’ enterprise accessibility practice, he was on the executive team at Deque, the leading consultancy on website accessibility. Doug has worked with some of the largest healthcare companies, banks, universities and investment services firms implement leading edge document accessibility programs. He moved to Colorado with his family in 2006 to cycle, ski and sail in the rockies.
