Summary
Read&Write’s range of features supports students with their reading, writing, and studying. This session will detail how the program supports Word, Google Docs, Websites, PDF’s, and more. Strategies presented can be used to teach the tools to students, support student acquisition of skills, and successfully implement the program across campus.
Abstract
This session will discuss how colleges are using Read&Write to support students struggling with literacy, which in turn affects their written work and comprehension. Innovative strategies that increase access and opportunities for students to succeed, including those used at Metropolitan State University of Denver, will be demonstrated. The program’s tools enable students to study with more confidence and produce a better quality of work on essays and assessments. We will touch on the PDF functionality, the ability to read websites, and the versatility for Mac’s, PC’s, and Chromebooks. All attendees will receive free access to the program as well as resources
Colleges across the country are moving to Read&Write as an innovative UDL support program. From its non-proprietary PDF, desktop, and ePUB accessibility tools to its award-winning supports in Google, Microsoft, and more, Read&Write is helping over 20 million learners read, write, research, and study independently.

Laura Trimble is a Territory Sales Director at Texthelp. She covers 7 states across the Midwest, including Colorado. She is passionate about education with a 15 year background in the education world. She especially likes to talk about how Read&Write and EquatIO provide a real UDL solution.
Gabe Christie
Gabe Christie is the Instructional Accessibility Manager at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. A proud Colorado native, Gabe earned both his bachelor's and Master’s degrees from the University of Northern Colorado. Accessibility is one of his passions and he works tirelessly to educate faculty and staff on adopting and enshrining accessible practices, to remove accessibility barriers in higher education. Gabe is an avid outdoorsman, a novice gardener, and lectures on a number of topics outside of accessibility.
