Summary
EquatIO is making math conversion, creation, consumption, collaboration, and compliance easy (and accessible!) on campuses and in school districts across the globe. Instructional Design, Disability Services, and Math Departments explain how this game-changing software is saving them time, money, and frustrations across the board.
Abstract
This session will share all the ways that Disability Services departments, math professors, and curriculum designers are pioneering EquatIO’s tools in new and exciting ways to easily convert math textbooks, create and engage with accessible math, and streamline math course processes. In addition to an overview and updates on all of the program’s capabilities, Susan Kelmer (University of Colorado- Boulder) and Jennifer Pederson (University of Alaska) will share detailed accounts of how EquatIO has changed the game for them as well as answer questions from attendees. All participants will receive free access to the program as well as resources on how to introduce and implement it on their own campuses.

Paul Brown
Paul Brown has been in education for 20 years as a teacher, technology coach, manager, and currently is a Vice President at Texthelp. Paul’s team oversees the successful implementation of the Read&Write and EquatIO product lines. Paul is a Cleveland Browns fan for life and asks for your pity ahead of time. He and his family live in Edina, MN.
Susan Kelmer
Ms. Kelmer has been working with alternate format and accessible technology for nearly 20 years in a higher education environment. Currently she works at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Alternate Format Production and Access Center, where alternate format materials for students are produced. She also consults with other departments on campus and other campuses about alternate format and how to produce it. She has presented at multiple AHG conferences in the last sixteen years.
