Summary of Session
The morning presentation will cover all areas of accessibility based upon functions. Beginning with Policy, procurement, Services (AT Assessments, Captioning, Accessible Text) and closing with web accessibility and testing. The afternoon will be covering in-depth "how to" test for web accessibility using free - to low cost apps.
Abstract
Schools are trying to find ways to build accessibility into environments that are lacking. This presentation will allow attendees to work through areas of accessibility based upon presentation, group work and reporting. We will cover all areas of accessibility and go in depth to how we started our program and areas of improvement vs change. Ultimately ending with web accessibility and testing. This will allow anyone attending to take away areas of accessibility regardless their role or responsibility.

Kara Zirkle
Ms. Zirkle has over 15 years experience working with individuals with disabilities. Kara has worked in Government and Higher Education. She is currently working at Miami University building accessibility procurement and policy. She worked at George Mason University prior for 9 years working closely with Enterprise Architecture reviewing accessibility. She works to ensure that Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 compliance of electronic and information technology (E&IT) is accessible to faculty, staff, students and public both with and without disabilities.
