Summary of Session

The University of Arizona’s itAccessibility Team collaborates with key campus individuals and units to continually increase awareness on accessibility in the IT and academic environments. Intentional meeting participation evolved into an effective communication network around accessibility.

Abstract

The University of Arizona is committed to achieving full accessibility of all electronic and information technology to ensure equitable experiences for everyone. The itAccessibility Team focuses on accessibility of UA’s electronic environments with top-down and bottom-up approaches. Through intentional meeting participation, our network continues to expand. The Team is routinely included in projects across campus to discuss and evaluate accessibility in IT and academic environments. In addition, we successfully built accessibility into design processes of projects and courses to strategically impact access. Our involvement includes central IT programs and enterprise solutions, individual department outreach, innovative and collaborative teaching and the new UA Online degree programs. This presentation discusses the structure of our Team, networking opportunities realized through committees and work groups, and the impact we achieved in the development of new campus initiatives.
