Summary

Seven years after the NFB complaint was filed against Penn State, the University Libraries continues to sustain our high level of web accessibility while increasing the awareness of accessibility across the Libraries. We will talk about our testing, reporting and communications as well as the Libraries' accessibility roadmap.

Abstract

In 2010, The National Federation of the Blind filed a web accessibility complaint against Penn State University. The Libraries played a key role in the accessibility work across the University and the web team spent a full year focusing almost solely on web accessibility. Now, seven years later, after a full web redesign and platform migration, we've been able to sustain both our high level of accessibility, and increase the awareness and understanding of the importance of accessibility in the Libraries. In this session, we will talk about our automated and manual testing, our reporting and communication process, and the strides we've made to make accessibility a high priority across the University Libraries. We'll also talk about what's next on the Libraries' accessibility roadmap.
