Participants will receive an overview of principles and processes for optimizing accessibility in Excel 365 workbooks. Topics include alternative text, contrast, tables, and charts. Participants will receive an evaluation checklist that identifies how to repair accessibility issues identified through the built-in checker and a manual review.
Participants will receive an overview of principles and processes for optimizing accessibility in Excel workbooks. Topics include: providing alternative text for graphic elements that present content; meeting WCAG requirements for contrast for text and some non-text elements; creating tables with the proper structure; and four keys for creating accessible charts. Participants will also receive an overview of an evaluation checklist. The checklist provides principles for optimizing accessibility in workbooks, lists issues that are identified through the built-in checker and a manual review, and methods for addressing these issues.

George is the Online Training Program Manager at WebAIM. He has a master’s degree in instructional psychology and technology, and over 20 years of teaching experience. Since 2008, he has developed online courses at Utah State University, and he joined the WebAIM team at the end of 2015. The Accessible Documents video-based course went online in July 2018. To date, more than 5,000 independent-study learners have participated in the training.
