Summary
Can usability, compliance and design coexist in your online courses? This interactive presentation will explore the wide range of learner needs in the online environment including issues of compliance and more subtle differences in learning and processing. We will go beyond seeing accessibility as a checklist and dive into usability and design.
Abstract
You have transcribed your lectures, typed in every assignment, ordered captions, and used headings for screen readers, but have you thought about the people interacting with your course? What is your course like for students struggling with a broader range of learning challenges? Many instructors and designers first feel limited by the check boxes of accessibility but you can provide diverse compliant instruction by designing with accessibility and usability in mind. We will discuss methods, tools and content that help increase the success of all learners.
