Discover why accessibility offices across the country are experiencing an uptick in requests and how you can better respond to increased demands and challenges with easy tips and tricks. This session will help you prepare to better engage and include your students this spring semester.
Abstract
We will identify common pain points for accessibility offices throughout the academic lifecycle, review data on why these pain points exist and offer tips and tricks to mitigate them. We'll explore how you can go from booking student accommodations, like captioning and transcriptions, last minute and dealing with staffing shortages to being more proactive in your accessibility planning. We’ll discuss how and why up to 80% of students aren’t reporting accommodations needs and ways to become more aware. We’ll offer you up a “Plan B”, share how to create more buy-in across your campus, learn how other institutions are enacting policy changes to learn from and much more.

Lindsay Tulloss is a higher education leader dedicating her career to providing equality in education to all. After completing her undergraduate degree in American Sign Language interpreting, she spent over ten years working in undergraduate admissions promoting access for transfer students, adult-learners, veterans, and minorities populations. After leaving the world of traditional academia, she has continued championing the needs of underserved populations through education technology and working strategically with higher education institutions. Lindsay is thrilled to combine her love for accessibility with her passion for higher education at AST, a Verbit Company.
