Summary
Learning happens in many different forums in higher education. The ability of a student to access information and participate fully may be limited by perceptual, environmental, language and cultural barriers including those associated with a disability. This presentation focuses on how to integrate readily available campus technology and integrated features (video conferencing, learning management systems, Microsoft learning tools) in all communication settings to enable inclusive participation.
Abstract
Communication and learning occur in many settings and spaces on a higher education campus, but a student’s ability to participate, comprehend, and interact fully may be severely impacted by perceptual, environmental, language and cultural barriers. Administration, faculty, and staff can integrate readily available campus technology features and solutions into all areas of student interaction to promote access and inclusion for all learners. Specifically, utilizing video conferencing platforms, AI, and learning tools into presentations, meetings, tutoring, and coaching sessions, etc. provides students with enhanced access to the speaker, content, and each other whether they join the meeting on location or virtually. Join us as we explore accessibility options with Microsoft Learning Tools (immersive reader, caption and translation AI, math assistant, shared note-taking, and executive function coaching strategies) along with techniques using your available campus technology (video conferencing, learning management system, document creation tools, OER, etc).
