The big picture overview for any stage of implementing an accessibility program across an organization. Starting with the institutional evaluation and providing tools and methodology for each stage, our team will take you through what you need to put in place a process to ensure that you reach and maintain your accessibility goals. Depending on class size and composition, we may break into smaller groups to facilitate learning about the steps to accessibility including the practical aspects of how to:

* Engage stakeholders (all of them) * Recruit executive sponsor * Set explicit goals/standards * Define success * Adopt/create an explicit policy * Assess current status * Build and integrate teams Train across roles * Integrate support structures * Test, measure, report * Evaluate, repeat * Integrate inclusive design into the general process (sustain)

Speaker Bio(s)

Eric Eggert

Eric works with Knowbility to make the web more accessible for people with disabilities and easier to use for everyone. His assignments include being a fellow at W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative where he helped to write guidance for developers and tools for people testing websites.

Robert Jolly

An accessibility-focused Project Manager with 20 years in the industry, Robert Jolly has managed teams and projects for clients including Georgetown University, MIT, Carnegie Mellon University, Zappos, Nintendo, Time Inc., American Airlines, JetBlue, and many others. Knowbility's technology Director, Robert contributes to the W3C’s Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Education and Outreach Working Group (EOWG), where he promotes web accessibility to a global audience of professionals. On EOWG, he contributes to the development of educational content in the form of tutorials, examples, accessibility support tools, and other documentation. Additionally, he evangelizes web accessibility by speaking at conferences, leading training workshops, and bringing a whole-team approach to accessibility and inclusive design.

Becky Gibson

Senior Accessibility Strategist at Knowbility, Becky joined the staff after a distinguished career at IBM. A recognized leader in the field of digital inclusion and enabling accessible solutions, Becky is an expert practitioner and great teacher. Her extensive career as an Software Engineer and Accessibility Architect at IBM impacted products, customer strategy, and industry standards. She is passionate about making Web and mobile applications usable for people of all abilities. She participated in the creation of W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 (WCAG) and was a lead developer of and evangelist for the Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) specification. Becky is currently a member of the W3C Accessibility Platform Architectures (APA) Working Group and the Personalization Task Force. She develops solutions for Knowbility clients; creates blog posts, documentation, and training materials; and speaks at conferences to further the mission of digital inclusion for all.
