Abstract |
| When people thinks of accessibility, it usually carries a negative connotation. This presentation will explain how DeVry has incorporated accessibility, within the course development process, and how accessibility has helped the team to become more effective and efficient at our job. Additionally, this presentation will include how to work with Academics, ADA officers, IT department, and even procurement to reinforce accessibility, and more importantly support ADA students. Finally, the presentation will outline how and why accessibility should be considered from the start and how other factors such as universal design helped DeVry Inc. to enhance accessibility in our online courses. |
Giovanni Duarte is a Senior Instructional Technologist who also leads the eLearning Accessibility Team Lead for DeVry Online Services. He developed the processes, databases, and technologies needed to support DeVry’s accessibility implementation and support. His focus is with online and web implementation and he is currently leading the new course development technologies and implementation. He has been in the Information Technology field for over ten years and has been working in the accessibility field for the last three.
