Summary
AIMHub is a California State University and California Community College developed system for post-secondary disability service staff. It offers improved accessible media production tracking, campus holding management, and exchange between campuses. AIMHub merges and supersedes the CAM and AMXDB exchange services, which will both be retired.
Abstract
To assist campuses of higher education with their accessible media services, the California Community Colleges developed the Alternate Media eXchange Database (AMXDB, www.amxdb.net), and the California State University developed the Center for Accessible Media (CAM, cam.calstate.edu). Both web sites have operated for a decade, holding tens of thousands of titles, and collectively facilitating the exchange of thousands of accessible instructional material files between campuses per year. Since then, the technological landscape changed, the accessibility field matured, and campus needs became more clear. The maintainers of AMXDB and CAM recognized the mutual benefits of retiring these systems, merging their databases, and delivering a new unified system. This talk describes AIMHub, a CSU and CCC collaboration to track conversion/production work, manage campus holdings, and acquire accessible instructional materials from external sources quickly, securely, and inexpensively.

Jack Sullivan
Jack Sullivan is a Software Engineer for the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) of the California State University (CSU) System, with expertise in application accessibility and security. Since 2006, he has worked at post-secondary campuses, coordinating accessible media services and developing automation tools, before joining the ATI in 2011. Jack audited and enhanced the Center for Accessible Media (CAM) exchange system, designed and developed the AIMHub system, has been a speaker at the International Technology and Persons with Disabilities Conference (CSUN), Accessing Higher Ground (AHG), and is an organizer for the Open Capture the Flag competition at DEFCON.
Cheryl Pruitt
Cheryl is the Director of the Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) for the California State University (CSU) System. She oversees the ATI implementation across the CSU 23 campus system. Cheryl has been involved with the ATI since the beginning in 2007, first at the campus level, then at the systemwide level. Under her leadership the system has made significant progress towards implementing ATI process improvement in the areas of web accessibility, accessible procurement, and accessible instructional materials. She is currently managing several projects that are moving the initiative forward they include implementation of an ATI reporting process to measure the systemwide progress towards the ATI goals; creation of synergy projects resulting in systemwide shared services that are delivering cost savings; and a high level of cross-campus collaboration through the ATI Communities of Practice.
Gaeir Dietrich
Gaeir Dietrich is the director of the High Tech Center Training Unit (HTCTU) of the California community colleges, and the systemwide trainer for Section 508 compliance. Gaeir has served on the advisory boards for AHEAD, Bookshare, DIAGRAM Center, the Alternate Text Production Center (ATPC), and the Silicon Valley Independent Living Center (SVILC). In 2010-2011, she served as the chair for the Federal Advisory Commission on Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) in Postsecondary Education. She is a contributing author to Beyond the Americans with Disabilities Act, published by NASPA.
