Summary

Put an end to “death by PowerPoint” and learn how to make better presentations that more effectively communicate to your audience — and are fully accessible, too. This session demonstrates the core requirements of accessible presentations, and shows how to put them into action for today’s latest presentation designs. Also covers how to distribute templates, manage Slide Masters and placeholders, and include accessible speaker notes.

Abstract

No more “death by PowerPoint” presentations. Let’s do better than have a million-and-one bullets in a presentation. Ditch the logos and visual clutter that repeats slide after slide after slide. And make it all accessible and easy to customize.

Put the power of persuasion into your author’s hands with pre-made, well-designed — and accessible — PowerPoint templates that can be easily customized for each PPT.

    Session covers:

  • The core requirements of an accessible PPT and PDFs exported from PowerPoint.
  • How themes, master slides, and placeholders work.
  • Controlling tags and reader order.
  • Use the latest design trends … and still be accessible.
  • Minimize those endless bullet bullet bullet bullet bullet points.
  • Ways to export accessible PDFs.
  • Options for providing speakers notes and detailed information along with your PPT.
  • Design principles for better, more effective communication.

Taught by Bevi Chagnon, an award-winning art director, designer, and accessibility maven, this session also includes design hacks and tips that produce great design + accessibility.
