Summary of Session

In this session, attendees will explore 18 web accessibility issues using Accessible University 3.0, a demo site designed to be used in web accessibility trainings. This is a fun, interactive way for beginners to learn about web accessibility, and for advanced attendees to pick up ideas, tips and resources that can help in their own trainings.

Abstract

This session will model how to use the Accessible University (AU) 3.0 website, a demonstrate site designed to be used in web accessibility trainings (https://uw.edu/accesscomputing/AU). AU 3.0 includes a "before" and "after" home page. The "before" page includes at least 18 accessibility problems. The "after" page demonstrates solutions to each of those problems. Participants will play a game of "spot the barrier" using the "before" page, and will discuss each of the 18 problems and their solutions. This is a fun, interactive way for beginners to learn about web accessibility, but is also a fun, interactive way for advanced attendees to pick up ideas, tips and resources that can help in their own web accessibility trainings.
