Summary of Session

Learn how a person voices math homework using Dragon NaturallySpeaking?, MathTalk?/ScientificNotebook?. Using MathTalk? recommended training and reference materials, the user learns the language of math and dictation rhythm for voicing math.

Abstract

This presentation begins with discussion of loading and configuring the software: MathTalk/ScientificNotebook and Dragon NaturallySpeaking.Next, MathTalk materials will be demonstrated which includes recommended Initial Training and training examples from the MathTalk manual. It is important to note use of the Quick Reference Laminates which are shipped with MathTalk. These provide an opportunity for the user to voice variables with variables such that the work may be done faster. For entering text by voice within the document, Dragon’s ‘show dictation box’ will be shown. Printing and providing homework to the desired destination will be addressed. A point of discussion will be benefits of speech recognition to the user. Important benefits include: learning the language of math and learning to focus and formulate thoughts before speaking. Learning to speak more clearly is also an important benefit because speaking more clearly will provide better recognition for the user.
