Summary of Session

Two learning centers, one state, equivalent efforts, great need, progress, but…. Hear how the two learning centers you heard from last year are continuing to address universal design for learning and accessibility using a bottom up approach (no University, provost, other letters requiring implementation).

Abstract

The presenters will share steps taken, barriers or stumbling blocks, and progress made in efforts to incorporate universal design and accessibility into campus culture since November of 2014. The initial roadmap for implementation presented previously will be revisited, addressing adaptations made based on University partner feedback. Important collaborations with University partners, views of faculty and staff, lessons learned, and resources for helping others gain positive ground in their efforts to promote universal design for learning will be integrated.

Keypoints

  1. Positive bottom up approaches to promoting UDL & integrating UDL & accessibility into campus culture.
  2. Lesson learned in overcoming barriers when using a bottom up approach.
  3. Resources to support efforts in promoting and integrating UDL campus-wide.
