Confused about how to make your IT accessible to students with learning disabilities and dyslexia? Not sure of the benefits of DAISY textbooks, let alone how to make them?
Dolphin\\\\\\\'s Jeff is offering a guided tour of screen access for students with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, as well as practical tools for colleges to create accessible alternative medias including MP3 and DAISY.
Jeff will examine the needs of two case study students and demonstrate the strategies, tools and processes a college can adopt to support these students:-
Case Study 1: William is studying International Business, but his learning disability means that his reading comprehension and speed is reduced. William prefers to receive his textbooks as MP3s, and uses a yellow screen wash to support his Irlens. Accessing the inaccessible PDFs is a big problem!
Case Study 2: Stacey has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia, and has become very de-motivated. She is studying to become a dental assistant but the written assignments are affecting her overall performance. Problems spelling and wrong use of homophones are specific issues that need tackling.
An informal session, Jeff will demonstrate solutions for these students, beginning to end, including tips and practical advice for a college that is truly accessible for students with learning disabilities.
