Analysis of case studies involving access technology and alternate format needs, with group discussion to brainstorm appropriate accommodation or technology recommendations. This presentation will help develop professional judgment and confidence in recommending AT/AF solutions.
Abstract
Learn to expand and trust your professional judgment regarding access technology and alternate format recommendations! Participants will be presented with information on common barriers and solutions to academic access, then offered a variety of case studies requiring their input on access technology and alt format solutions. Both presenter and participants will analyze and discuss possible solutions involving technology, alternate formats, and other strategies. Participants are encouraged to bring their own case studies (with identifying information redacted) to contribute to the discussion.

Teresa Haven has worked with access technology and media accessibility for over 20 years. Her areas of expertise include alternate format production; web and educational technology accessibility; and faculty development and education. She has taught on the college level as well as serving as a disabilities services provider and a private consultant. Her passion is for creating accessible, usable, and welcoming environments for all.
