Summary of Session

To be successful with accessibility, you have to look at the entire system, all that goes into creating web content. Learn through hands-on exercises and practical instruction just how to prioritize the work and integrate accessibility into procurement, process, and the entire web project lifecycle.

Abstract

We're rolling up our sleeves! Learn practical, applicable skills in this half-day workshop on building a successful accessibility program. We will open the day getting to know your organization as we build the business case for accessibility, conducting a series of analysis exercises. We will then work in teams to look at a broad range of scenarios that will identify your key risks, your most important priorities, and your accessibility strategy as it fits within your institution. Next, we will craft an accessibility policy and process that can grow with your organizational needs. And finally, we will explore the many moving parts required for the effective integration of accessibility into the entire project life cycle. In this workshop, understand the critical points where accessibility can and should be integrated, what management techniques are most reliable, and which resources are most effective with various development methodologies to make your teams successful.
