Summary of Session

This presentation will include a demonstration of how Voice Dream Reader's features accommodate its users. In addition, attendees will be shown how they can use Voice Dream Reader as a file delivery tool for students using it as their screen reader.

Abstract

Voice Dream Reader is an app that gives students access to text conversion accommodations, across a wide spectrum of disabilities. It allows students to use their mobile devices to listen to their books and class materials “on the go”.

This presentation will demonstrate Voice Dream Reader and its many features, explain the pros and cons of using this screenreader on a mobile device and show attendees how it can be incorporated into your campus immediately, not only as a screenreader but also as a delivery tool for files to students.

Sarah Metivier

Sarah Metivier (MSW) is a Coordinator for Accommodation Services and the Text Conversion Lab at Illinois State University and has worked in that role with students with various disabilities and conditions for the past 21 years. She presents often on accessibility and universal design for learning practices on campus as well as at conferences.
