Summary of Session

A look at the first steps an organization should take when beginning an accessibility journey. This talk will include an overview of accessibility concepts, and outline a three phase process from initiation to implementation for achieving digital accessibility.

Abstract

This talk will look at key digital accessibility concepts and outline a recommended three phase approach to roll out a digital accessibility initiative. Phase I: Initiate - coverage questionnaires, identify high risk components, system audits for high risk components, Digital Accessibility Maturity Model (DAMM), training Phase II: Pilot - implement accessibility practices in high risk groups, measure impact and cost, refine program along DAMM dimensions Phase III: Scale up - implement accessibility systemically, standardized budgets optimized by accessibility RoI, clear, maintained policies and standards
