Summary

Digital accessibility must be addressed by any organization. But who leads this charge? Who does the work? This session will focus on how one organization is addressing accessibility in a time of industry change.

Abstract

Everyone can agree that technology needs to be accessible and usable for all students; but where to start? McGraw-Hill Education shares their story on the road to accessibility. From UX to project managers, marketing and sales, McGraw-Hill shares how they have been able to partner across different areas of the organization with one goal in mind; digital accessibility. This session will focus on accessibility roles and responsibilities across the organization. We will look at a case study of how one team is challenging themselves to not just deliver compliant software, but truly a best in class experience. We will take a look at challenges, wins, and lessons learned.

Lisa Nicks

Lisa Nicks is the Sr. Manager of accessibility for Higher Education. In her 30 years in the industry, she's held various roles, but none have been more rewarding than working in accessibility and usability. For the past nine years Lisa has been supporting and partnering with accessibility offices, faculty and institutions across the U.S. and helping drive accessibility within McGraw Hill. Lisa is CPACC through the IAAP. In fall 2020, she was co-chair of the first annual NFB inclusive publishing conference. She has presented at AHG in the past as well as IMS Global.
