Summary

The purpose of Accessible Technology is to connect individuals with disabilities facing barriers due to a functional limitation in one or more major life activities. Come, network, and learn with others who share your interest in assistive technology. Discuss the AT you use personally or assign professionally to the people you serve. This interactive session will increase your knowledge on the vast amount of AT available for not only individuals with disabilities but for all.

Abstract

In the age of advance technology, it is important to stay abreast of the accessible technology that is used at various organizations because technology plays a crucial role in ensuring that everyone can perform tasks effectively and efficiently regardless of functional limitations. This training session aims to bring together participants from various organizations and backgrounds to share and discuss the accessible technologies they utilize in their respective places of employment and/or ascribe to their consumers.

Participants will have the opportunity to dialogue in small groups about the tools and solutions they use that enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities. This information will then be shared in the large group so others can add to their toolbox and share with their constituents. Through interactive discussions attendees will gain insights into best practices, innovative solutions, and the impact of accessible technology in daily living.

By the end of this training, participants will have specific knowledge of various devices and the inspiration to implement or advocate for similar solutions in their own organizations. Join us in promoting an inclusive environment where technology not only provides access, but also fosters independence and creates opportunities.
