Abstract
Pearson`s experience developing accessible web media revealed that the WCAG 2.0 guidelines do not cover all situations that impact higher education students and instructors. This session will look at the additional guidelines and techniques provided in Pearson`s Accessibility Guidelines for Digital Learning Products (https://wps.pearsoned.com/accessibility/). Each guideline and technique will be explained from a user experience perspective with examples, so that participants can understand why it is important. The session will also take a look at items from WCAG 2.0 that have a higher impact in an educational setting than they do generally and that can be easy to overlook.
Kepoints
Understand why the Higher Ed environment necessitates additional guidelines and meeting WCAG 2.0 guidelines in particular ways.
Learn about additional guidelines regarding timing, motion, and providing text alternatives.
