Summary of Session

An exploration of different ways to deliver captioning for instructional content. Various tools, technologies, and best practices will be considered in terms of captioning lecture captures, screen casts, and other web-based video resources.

Abstract

Captioning has come a long way since the days of analog and line 21. With current computer technology it is now possible for mere mortals to caption the video they create without tremendous expense or hassle. Today there are several formats you can choose from to deliver your web-based video, and there are even more tools available to create digital video with ease and at low cost. Learn about institutional to individual solutions and workflows, captioning support in popular desktop applications like Camtasia and Captivate, and free or inexpensive tools available on the web. Captioning considerations such as formatting, pedagogy, instructional design, and optimizing workflows will be covered as well.
