Abstract

Laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act were created in simpler times with different challenges. Technology has advanced light years since these earlier times— and this has created amazing opportunities and new challenges for colleges and universities. This presentation will review some of the more recent developments, both from the legal and technical perspective. It will also give practical suggestions for meeting these challenges. It is the presenter\\\\\\\'s hope that audience members will leave with an understanding of how disability rights law and policy work seamlessly and how old strategies can be easily reshaped for the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Kepoints

  1. Understand new laws and regulations at a high level— and the technologies they touch
  2. Gain a sense of how new settlements shape obligations
  3. Develop a calm understanding of how to meet these challenges
