Summary of Session

You`ve heard of ARIA, HTML5 and CSS3, but you need to know what they can do for you, how to do it AND how reliable they are. Does HTML5 have any new accessibility implications? What about CSS3 features like transformations and transitions? How well is ARIA supported, and what do you do when it isn`t?

Abstract

The tools we use to build web sites and applications are changing rapidly, and so is accessibility. Or is it? In this workshop we`ll look at tried and true principles and apply them to what you`re already building today and what you`ll be building tomorrow. We`ll even take it a step further?we`re going to show you how to get from where you are now to where you`re going and the path you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'ll need to take in between while we`re waiting for accessibility and technology to catch up to one another.

Kepoints

  1. understand why we need WAI ARIA to build accessible, usable web sites and applications
  2. understand the significance of HTML5 and CSS3 to accessibility
