HTML5’s video element has made web-based video delivery a first-class citizen, and now everyone is racing to use video. Are you (accessibility) ready?
Abstract
From the re-purposing of TV commercials on your website, to complete VOD (Video on Demand) eLearning interactive webinars, we are seeing a huge increase in the use of streaming video across corporate, government and academic websites. But just as video content is multi-modal in its delivery of information (sight, sound, animation, etc.), so too is there a multitude of requirements to ensure that your enterprise is equipped with a scalable, accessible video solution.
In this presentation, we will look at all of the requirements your integrated enterprise video solution requires, from addressing issues of scalability, multiple-form-factors and bandwidth scenarios, to hardware and software requirements on the back end, and of course accessibility considerations. Key topics will include Infrastructure requirements, production requirements, and a quick look into our crystal ball for the immediate and longer-range future.

John Foliot
John is the Principal Accessibility Strategist at Deque Systems and an internationally recognized Web Accessibility Specialist and champion for the cause of web standards and universal accessibility. He has provided digital accessibility consultation services to government agencies, educational institutions and private sector companies since 1999, both as an independant contractor, as well as stints at Stanford University and JP Morgan Chase bank, prior to joining Deque in 2015. John is an active and contributing participant in multiple W3C Working Groups including the Accessibility Guidelines WG (formally the WCAG WG), the ARIA WG, Accessible Platform Architecture (APA) WG, the Web Platform WG (formally the HTML5 WG), as well as the W3C Television on the Web Interest Group.
