TCS “iAccess” is an automated accessibility assessment tool with the industry best automation capability (>55%). The tool is capable of testing individual web pages and complete websites for accessibility compliance against WCAG 2.0 (level A, AA, AAA) and Section 508.

In spite WCAG 2.0 guidelines, accessible websites are less in number than we might expect. There are many reasons behind this situation however the prominent one is that a major portion of accessibility assessment is done manually and the automation quotient is very low. These tools can evaluate only the HTML and CSS based checks, leaving a lot to be done manually. To address this challenge we took a 2 step approach: 1. Increase the automation 2. Optimizing the accessibility assessment process. In this session we present our in-house tool “i-Access”. This tool uses innovative methods to identify and assess the widgets which cannot be identified based on the HTML semantics and structure such as Menu bar, Tree view, Slider, etc. Testing of dynamically generated pages has also been automated by the record and playback feature of “i-Access”. Also >55% of the testable criteria has been automated, thus raising the bar. Comparative analysis of TCS “i-Access” tool with industry existing commercial tools for the coverage, accuracy and completeness of the non-compliance reported by tool will also be presented.
